Project

The roof is formed from European Oak glulam trusses at 2m centres. They are linked by shared nodes at 'ceiling' level which generated complex 3 dimensional geometry.
Nodes and ceiling ties are polished stainless steel - essential for contact with the tannin in Oak. Rafters and struts are secured to nodes by bolting into threaded sockets epoxy bonded into end grain - not normally visible from most directions.

Spans vary from 6m up to 24m. Breadth is 330mm (2 x 150mm + 30mm space). Rafter depth varies from 400mm at ends to over 600mm mid bay.
The Oak is sanded and finished with Envirograph class 'O' intumescent coating.
A very high quality specification in keeping with the status and function of the building.
