Sets of 8, 12 or 16 segments are machined with an interlocking profile and bonded with weather and heat proof adhesive Type 1 to BS EN301. Each segment is either left with flat external faces (octagonal etc) or rounded to form a cylindrical shape. The number of segments increases with the diameter.

Whitewood (Spruce) is recommended for applications linked to standard glulam and Kerto LVL. Redwood (Pine) is available at a small premium and takes preservative treatment better. For external applications and others where high moisture contents are probable then CCA treatment is available. For special effects temperate hardwoods may be specified subject to bonding check.

The established quality of timber to char at a predictable rate assists fire engineering. Multiposts can be sized to support load after a specified period of exposure to fire. They can also be used as protective cladding for structural elements.
