Project

A concept design, first demonstrated at the Chelsea Flower Show 2003. The 'A' frame structure is in Thermwood Glulam.
An environmentally friendly laminated timber made from Scandinavian Pine which has been heat treated.
The process uses vapour and steam (largely generated from forest residues). This disperses all resin from the timber.
Neither chemicals nor foreign substances are added to the wood.
The cellular structure is changed to reduce the equilibrium moisture content: -

  • The timber is more dimensionally stable.
  • Resistance to decay is enhanced.

Bonding of the laminations uses a structural adhesive based on Polyurethane. It contains neither solvents nor Formaldehyde and can safely be disposed of by incineration.
